Mini Dagger Variations with Mike LaFleur
2021 Jets tape is one of my guilty pleasures. I am real excited to see what Mike LaFleur’s offense will look like this fall, albeit without the talent on paper.
Today we are going to look at some of his Four Strong Mini Daggers from the 2021 season. The first example shows a variation from Bunch with the running back weak. The back will Check Burst as the low element of the hi-low on the hook window.
The Choice - Out from the #3 receiver (F) is a great blitz beater, with natural rub/pick qualities for man coverages. The cutup shows this variation working well against a few different coverages.
The Dig gets completed with the variation shown below. The Bubble pulls the flat player out immediately, and the Diagonal occupies the weak hook player. This isolates the strong hook window in a hi-low with the Z and H.
Nice built in alert with the Out & Up for 1 on 1’s.
From a two high coverage, the Mike ends up as the strong hook defender. He stays low, Dig opens up.
In another game, we get a good look at the concept against cover 2. this time, the nickel is the strong hook player. Great timing to beat the recovering Mike linebacker.
