Cutup Friday: 2022 Miami Dolphins Crack Toss
The Dolphins had a lot of success with their Crack Toss scheme in last Sunday’s record-setting performance against the Denver Broncos.
Crack Toss is one of my favorite run schemes. It gets the ball on the perimeter of the defense quickly, requiring a couple of critical blocks. It compliments a lot of the primary run schemes in football too, so it will fit into most offenses.
Here are a couple images of Crack Toss from the Dolphins week 3 victory. Crack Toss is characterizes with a play side receiver cracking the end man on the line of scrimmage, with he tackle pulling outside. There are a few variations with different ways to get lead blockers out in front too.
The Dolphins also run what I call “Crack Seal”. This play is identical to Crack Toss, but without the pulling of the play side tackle. These clips are not included in this particular cutup.
