One of the 49ers bread and butter run calls over the last few years is often referred to as “Zorro Cat”. IT is a version of full-flow outside zone, that asks the FB and TE to work in combination on the EMOL (end man on the line of scrimmage). They get to it a million ways, but one of their favorites of the 2020 and 2021 seasons involved fast motion out of a balanced look.
The “Cat” tag tells the PSWR to push up the near safety. This allows the TE/FB combination to work longer, and take a better angle tot he cornerback.
Although the 49ers like to get to it usually out of 12/21 personnel, they will also call it out of 11. Here is an example where the ball carrier comes on a jet motion.
