Make no mistake about it, the 49ers base run is Outside Zone.

They game plan it differently each week, depending on their opponent. Various personnel groups, tags for who blocks the defensive end, tags for who blocks the cornerback, etc.

Here are a few variations from Game Planning with the 2022 San Francisco 49ers. In this book, I diagram all of the different ways the 49ers like to call it, specific to defensive structure. I also break down why each one was called that week.
