Counter Solid with Seattle
Counter Solid doesn’t get nearly enough attention in the Manual format, as the teams I’ve picked recently don’t call it often. My 2025 Bills and 2025 Seahawks game planning books cover a few examples in detail, however.
The Seahawks displayed a beautiful rep of Counter Solid in week 14 (2025).
They escort the tight end across for the kickout block and wrap the fullback across to lead through for the PSLB.
The free safety is able to trigger into the box before the PSWR can dig him out. The play is able to go for a big gain, even with the free safety in the box unblocked, due to the vertical movement from the offensive line. The running back is able to hit the C-gap tight, so the unblocked free safety is not a factor.
