2022 Jaguars 2nd Goal Cutup
Continuing the red zone study from Monday, this post covers the Jaguars 2nd Goal clips.
2nd and Goal is a good opportunity for the offense to showcase some of their best designer concepts each week. often on third and goal, the defense will bring funky looks, so you want more all purpose plays. On average, I see more typical defenses on 2nd and goal.
Here are a couple diagrams of some of the concepts the Jaguars called. They scored in weeks 4 and 12 on the “corndog” concept in the first diagram. The term Corndog comes from Andy Reid, describing the concept after the Chiefs scored twice with it in the Super Bowl.
They also scored twice on the version of the “Dag” concept shown in the second image. Christian Kirk ran the out cut from the #2 receiver spot really well in 2022.
The Jaguars also ran a lot of their inside zone RPO’s in these situations. I have drawn up and explained many of these in The 2022 Jacksonville Jaguars Complete Offensive Manual.
The following video shows 14 minutes of the Jaguars in 2nd & Goal situations.
